Aloha all!
It was a small wedding (about 100 attending), took a lot of energy and hard work, and it was worth every minute! The wedding went on as planned on Saturday, June 20, 2009 . . . my daughter, Sherrie, married Derek. Where do I begin!
The entire wedding party and guests were located at the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa on the island of Maui.
A grand time was had by all! The happy couple exchanged vows in the chapel on the grounds of the beautiful hotel, and a fun reception took place in one of the ballrooms.
The event was definitely a non-traditional and family-oriented affair. Children got to make their own teddy bears (Hanai Bears) complete with outfits! The youngsters danced to their own music on the dance floor with their own little strobe light.
The happy couple!
Here's the handsome grandson (the ring bearer)!
The Grand Wailea Resort and Spa was fabulous, and if you're ever planning to visit Maui, plan to visit the grounds or secure a room. It's definitely a WOW thing!
I hope I didn't bore anyone with this blog; just wanted to share a little of our experience with everyone. By the way, our favors were a hit! Will post photo in next post.
I'll be back soon to share more soap talk and get back on track!
See ya!
Hi JoAnn,
Glad to see you back on your blog! I understand how that can get away from us. I am trying focus back on our Hawaii blog and it can be challenging with so many other things going on. We just went live with our first website ever... pretty exciting and a lot of work.
The photos you have of the wedding are just lovely! I love the Grand Wailea and the chapel there is really special, especially the way it sits on water; I know that property very well.
I will make sure to let you know the next time we're on Oahu to meet and take one of your classes. I love the hand made soaps!
