In Hawaii, Fridays are traditionally called Aloha Friday--what a great way to get a head start on the weekend. Businesses usually allow employees to dress casually in ... Alohawear! Everyone is in a good mood looking forward to THE WEEKEND--just like the little fella to the left. He's having a ball!
FYI, our fair state of Hawaii is in deep kim chee financially, and to make a long story short, Aloha Friday turned into Furlough Friday. State employees, including teachers, students, judges are being furloughed on designated Fridays throughout the next couple of years, 2011, to be exact. While there are arguments pro and con, the bottom line is that there are a lot of people with lots of time on their hands or looking for part-time employment to make up for the lost income. Students are affected as well, some with no planned activities on Furlough Fridays.
On the positive side, many new businesses have cropped up to help fill the void on Furlough Fridays. Yay! We believe that many positive things can evolve from these new challenges. After all, when people are pushed to their limits, creativity abounds! Read more. . .
Look at what my Dad does in his spare time! Gotta love it! Not bad for an 84-year young man, eh? He's an inspiration to us all!
More soap classes on the way!
So maybe we can turn Furlough Fridays into Aloha Fridays and use our creativity to make soap! We're planning to schedule private soap classes in the comfort of your own home! No traveling for you; we come to you! How's that for a twist. We've had to downsize and move our business back to the house (that's where it all began in the first place!) so while we can't hold classes at our house, we can come to you to teach you how to make soap from scratch! It's fun, it's creative, and just plain makes you feel good.
We also have some other things cookin' for the beginning of next year, so keep checking back for more news about classes!
I hope to be posting more often so check back soon!
Have a great day!
JoAnn and Steve
